The one-day competition saw the ThunderCats go undefeated in the group stages, where they faced tough competition but proved too strong for their opponents. Their dominance continued in the semi-finals, where they dispatched Belfast Softball, before securing victory in a nail-biting final against BatPack. The final ended 35-28 in the ThunderCats' favour, marking a fitting conclusion to an outstanding day of softball and securing them the title for the second consecutive year.
Jersey Softball Association (JSA) President and ThunderCats Team Captain expressed his pride in the team’s performance and the strong relationships they’ve built through the sport. “We’ve been incredibly fortunate to form such strong and lasting friendships within the Irish softball community through our overseas competition,” said Robin. “I’m always amazed by the enthusiasm and commitment to the sport we have on the Island. These trips are self-funded, as is much of the participation in our local league, but we consistently bring teams with such depth of talent."
Robin also spoke about the broader impact of the tournament and the importance of growing the game. “It’s a real joy to be welcomed into this tournament and to compete against such high-calibre players. This is a fantastic way to kickstart our 2025 events. I hope that as a travelling team, and more widely as a sport, we can find ways to increase access to these off-Island events. The association is always working to escalate the level of play, and I’m thrilled that so many teams are looking to expand their off-Island competition as a way to elevate player development."
