3CI Sport Flyers Euro Tournament Splash

The 3Ci Sport Flyers made history as the first Jersey league team to compete on mainland Europe, delivering an outstanding debut at the prestigious Windmill Classic in Almere, Netherlands.

Tournament Highlights

  • Strong Day One: Two wins from three group games secured a place in the top‑half championship bracket.

  • Statement Sunday: The Flyers immediately avenged their earlier loss to GuzzEuros with a composed, power‑hitting performance.

  • Major Upset: A nine‑run first inning powered a 14–4 win over SWAG, knocking out one of Europe’s established tournament teams.

  • Clutch Semi‑Final: Against Balls_and_Dolls, sharp defence and aggressive baserunning held off a heavy‑hitting opposition to secure a narrow victory and a place in the final.

The Final

Facing Frontliners, a young, energetic Belgian side, the Flyers entered the championship game as the tournament’s top seed. In front of around 100 spectators and with the sun setting over the pitch, the final quickly turned into a slugfest. Frontliners struck first with four early runs, but the Flyers responded immediately and refused to let the Belgians pull away.

Both teams produced standout defensive plays and traded huge home runs, creating one of the most exciting finals in the event’s history. The Flyers’ persistence paid off as they battled back to level the game at 10–10, forcing the first extra‑innings final ever recorded at the Windmill Classic.

Under international tie‑break rules, Frontliners edged ahead with three runs. The Flyers fought back with determination, pushing the game to the final swing, but ultimately fell just short in a dramatic 13–12 finish.

The Flyers’ run, marked by resilience, fearless hitting and composure against Europe’s best, earned admiration across the tournament. Their debut not only delivered a historic final appearance but firmly established the Jersey side as a genuine contender on the European softball stage.

The team’s off‑island trip was supported by the Jersey Sport Travel Grant, which helps make development opportunities more accessible to players and strengthens the pathway for local softball.
