Two of Jersey's travelling softball teams, Thundercats and Transformers, brought the heat to a wet weekend at the Cardiff Diffodil tournament, with both teams turning in standout performances despite persistent rain.

Day 1 was a test of grit and patience as both teams endured heavy rain. Thundercats were untouchable from start to finish, securing a perfect 10-0 win record across the weekend to claim the tournament's top prize in the competitive division. Their dominance began early, finishing Day 1 unbeaten at 5-0 and riding that momentum through to a flawless Sunday run.

Thundercats players Andy Romeril and Michelle Le Lion were voted MVP’s for the final game by  umpires, reflecting their standout performance for the game.

Transformers also made their mark, finishing 6-1 win record and securing the top spot in the group stages of their division.

They clawed back an early deficit in the qualifiers to take a semi-final place, and in spite of battling hard in a spirited semi-final clash, ultimately fell 15-9 to the Red Sox in what was a thrilling match-up.

"It was a true team performance all weekend," said Thundercats captain Robin Tadier. "The weather didn't make it easy, but we stayed focused, had fun, and played some great softball. I couldn’t be prouder of the squad."

Transformers skipper Kelly Tadier added, "The conditions certainly didn’t make it easy, but the tournament organisers, as well as the umpiring crew, did a fantastic job in keeping things moving. The team played with heart and energy all weekend, and the level of competition across all of the participating squads was testament to the development efforts in leagues across the UK and the Channel Islands."

"It’s a privilege to be able to take two squads to these competitions, and great to see that our development initiatives are keeping pace. We’re walking away proud of our efforts.’’
