The 2026 CorefocusX Summer League opened in style this weekend, marked by a ceremonial first pitch from David Kennedy, CEO of Jersey Sport, ahead of the Division 1 matchup between the 3Ci Sport Flyers and Atom Pirates. Kennedy’s involvement set a positive tone for a day of competitive softball across both divisions.

Atom Pirates 14, 3Ci Sport Flyers 13
The opening fixture delivered exactly the kind of tight contest expected from two established Division 1 sides. Level at 11–11 after seven innings, the game moved into extras, where the Pirates edged ahead in the bottom of the eighth with a 3-run home run hit by Matt Satchell to bring the winning runs across the plate to secure a 14–13 win. Both teams showed early-season sharpness at the plate, suggesting they’ll remain strong contenders as the league progresses.
Phoenix 27, CorefocusX Cubs 1
Phoenix displayed dominant batting form in their first outing, combining consistent hitting with composed defensive work to take a 27–1 victory. The Cubs, fielding several new players this season, continued to battle throughout and will look to build cohesion as the campaign develops.

Eagles 20, Raiders 19
Another close Division 1 contest saw the Eagles and Raiders trade runs throughout, entering the bottom of the sixth tied at 19–19. A well-placed hit from Luke De La Cour allowed Sean Wilson to score the decisive run, though not without late drama, as he was forced to double back to tag third before crossing home. With no defensive pressure on the throw, he completed the play safely, sealing a 20–19 win. It was a promising Division 1 debut for the Eagles, who showed composure in key moments.

Ferryspeed Falcons 10, Marwyn Jersey Royals 9
The Falcons opened aggressively, putting up a strong first inning to take an early lead. The Royals responded with disciplined defence with standout performances from shortstop Rob Duckett, holding the Falcons to several scoreless frames and gradually closing the gap. A late surge brought the Royals within a single run, but timely at bats and a key home run from the Falcons’ Keegan Peterson provided just enough breathing room. A steady final defensive inning secured the 10–9 result.
Hamptonne Farm Base Invaders 22, Tigerz 10
The day concluded with a lively Division 2 matchup. Despite the 12‑run margin, both sides produced energetic performances. The Base Invaders’ consistent base hitting proved decisive, pushing runners around efficiently. Strong defensive moments featured throughout, including deep outfield catches from MVP Jason George and reliable work at first base from female MVP Topaz, helping limit the Tigerz’ scoring opportunities.
A Promising Start to the 2026 Season
Teams across both divisions contended with challenging windy conditions on Sunday, yet still delivered competitive games and notable individual displays. With several close results and strong early performances, the opening weekend suggests an exciting and tightly contested 2026 CorefocusX Summer League ahead.
