Latest Match Reports

Eagles (15) v (11) Cubs 24/7/16

The MotorMall Eagles eighth game of 2016 was their second encounter with the Corefocus Cubs and after having lost heavily to the Cubs back in May (40-4), the Eagles took to the field determined to put in a strong account of themselves.

From the outset it was clear that the Eagles defence was on form with only 3 runs conceded in the first 5 innings, including four shut-outs.
Offensively the Eagles were superb scoring 12 runs including 2 massive home runs by outfielder David Turner. Some clever running by Ali Christie-Upton also contributing to the score with a memorable slide into second base prompting a close call from the umpire.

The 6th inning was a different affair as Cubs rallied to show the offensive prowess that have made them a top-scoring team this year. They proceeded to go through their order scoring 8 runs to make it 15-11.

Eagles took the field at the top of the 7th knowing that holding Cubs to 3 or less would win them the game. They rose to the challenge closing out the final inning with no score to wind up 15-11 winners and not needing their final at-bat.

MVPs for Eagles were Rem Floris and Leah Cunningham
MVPs for Cubs were Spencer and Claire
