2015 Match Reports

Match 6 Falcons Vs Pirates

Falcons had a somewhat shaky start in their match against the CPA Global Pirates this Sunday. Having Pirates take the first inning 7 runs to 0, the Falcons matched the opposition 1 run a piece in the second innings, finally finding their groove in the 3rd and didn't look back from there on. Far more at ease both at bat and on the field, the Falcons not only stopped the Pirates from scoring further in the match, but pounded the Pirates defences, bringing home 15 runs in the next 4 innings to seize the victory without batting the 7th. With solid base hitting from throughout the ranks sealing the deal, some noteworthy fielding performances came from Ric Pedro, Sam Lempriere and Laura Poingdestre for the Falcons squad. Final score Jacksons Falcons 16 - CPA Pirates 8.

Match 4 Falcons Vs Phoenix

The sister teams of Jacksons Falcons and Jacksons Phoenix met for the second time this Sunday with the more seasoned Falcons again proving the dominant force, though Phoenix again showed their teeth and made the Falcons work for the victory.
Falcons took the early lead but Phoenix rose to the challenge, responding by shutting the Falcons down in the second, third and fourth innings, Cameron Ramsey of Phoenix taking 7 outfield catches during the match.
The Falcons switch of strategy to base hitting in the 5th saw them stretch a comfortable lead, which Phoenix were unable to claw back, with Scott Robberts home run for the Falcons in the 7th sealing the deal (a massive right field drive with Robberts adding switch hitter to his list of attributes)
Final score Jacksons Falcons 21 - Jacksons Phoenix 8

Match 3 Falcons Vs Pirates

Jacksons Falcons took on the CPA Global Pirates in a hotly contested match this Sunday, both teams trading blows and scoring two runs a piece in the first innings, with neither side adding to their tally in the second. It was Jacksons Falcons who broke away to take the lead, with a strong turn at bat in the third innings forcing some out of character fielding errors in their opposition.
The Jacksons side were able to maintain and stretch their lead further in the fourth, and appeared as though they had he game under control, with home runs coming from Manuel Eduardo and Scott Robberts to place the Falcons with a healthy 8 run advantage.
A resurgence from Pirates in the 5th however shook the Falcons, and some well placed base hits saw the Pirates progressing round the field, bringing in 7 before the Falcons could close them down. In spite of a solid 6th innings, the Pirates went into the 7th with only 2 runs separating them from the Jacksons Falcons. With 2 home runs coming from the Pirates at just the right time, the game was lost. Final score Jacksons Falcons 17 - CPA Global Pirates 18.

Match 2 Falcons Vs Niners
Jacksons Falcons took on the reigning division 1 champs Dominion Niners on Sunday. With Falcons hitting form early in the match, they had established a narrow lead in the second innings, with both teams trading blows in the mid-part of the game. Niners improving in the later stages, the Jacksons Falcons were not giving in easily, Gabriel Anzla smashing a home run in the 5th with 2 outs. Although squarely matched for much of the game, the Niners pulled ahead with two solid innings at bat and took the eventual victory 25 to Falcons 15.

Match 1 Falcons Vs Phoenix
In a scorching start to the 2015 JSA Summer season, Jacksons Falcons took on their sister team, the freshly promoted Jacksons Phoenix. Falcons taking to bat first, the experience in their ranks shone through from the off, with Ric Pedro sending a deep outfield ball past the Phoenix gloves in left field.
A tentative start from 2014's d2 champs Phoenix on the field allowed the Falcons to advance round the bases, and the Falcons were quick to capitalise, racking up 13 runs in the first 2 innings before Phoenix could shake off the early nerves.
Falcons proved difficult to contain throughout the 6 innings played, and excellent placement hitting from Pedro, along with home run hitters Scott Roberts, Gabriel Anzla and Sam Lempriere (HR on unforced errors) tested the Phoenix defences, but the Phoenix team improved over the course of the game, with flashes of last seasons excellent on field pairings coming through between infielders Cameron Ramsay, Alex Kilpatrick, Jason Boschat and Chaz Cunningham.
By the dying stages, Phoenix were starting to show more much more confidence and aggression both defensively and at bat, but the Falcons had cruised to a comfortable victory, with 22 runs to the Phoenix teams 4.
