JSA Corporate League 2015

At an awards dinner on Friday 21st August, CPA Global Black I.Ps were crowned the new champions of the Jersey Softball Associations Corporate League.

Over the summer, the Black I.Ps, who were newcomers to the league for 2015, battled against 7 other teams for the prestigious title. Team captain, James Marshall, was delighted with the result; “As a new team entering into the league this year, our aim was always to have fun and maybe take a couple of victories and put up a fight. For us to end the season the way we have has been a remarkable achievement in the face of several injuries, notable absences and as always, stiff competition. The team spirit shown by the players has been exceptional, and I could not be more proud to have coached such a positive team with a great attitude to the game”.
This year saw an increase in the number of new teams competing, with HSBC Expats, Elian Wasps and First Name Diamond Foxes joining the more seasoned teams of RBC Lions, Carey Olsen Woodchucks, Stonehage Kroonarends and Aztec Sloggers.

The Corporate League, which has now been running for 7 years, aims to encourage team building amongst a wide variety of companies whilst also giving them a taste of softball. Each year there are players that become interested in playing more competitively and naturally join Summer League teams as well to advance their knowledge of the game.

Corporate League Organiser, Michelle Thomson, said “2015 has been a very successful year for the corporate softball league with 3 new teams joining and the introduction of the coaches and umpires team adding an interesting edge to this year. It has been great to see the enthusiasm from the new teams and also the continued enjoyment of the players who have been involved for the last few years. The feedback has been amazing and we are already receiving enquiries for next year - I hope to see even more new faces on the diamond in 2016.”.
