On Sunday the last of the Corefocus summer league softball matches were played at Les Quennevais.

Dominion Niners and PBS Flyers are the respective 2009 Division I and Division II winners who will now travel to Guernsey to play their Guernsey counterparts in the Upton matches to be held on Saturday 29 August.

The Jersey Softball Association is hoping that both teams will be successful and they will bring home the respective shields. Cubs, last year won the Division II Upton Shield so it is hoped this can remain in Jersey and that the Niners will bring home the Division I shield after its year in Guernsey.

Following the matches on Sunday the Jersey Softball Association President, Paul Wilkinson, presented the First and Second Division winners trophies to the Niner’s Captain Carlos Teles and the Flyers’ Captain Garry Le Maistre. This was the Flyers’ first-ever team silverware, since the team’s formation in 1994.

Congratulations to both teams.
