The current team of Optimus Storm has come from a long line of earlier teams and amalgamations. The first team that eventually later became ‘Storm’ was started up in 1995/1996 under the name of Clintons Los Huevos (huevos being ‘eggs’ in Spanish, but a google search also suggests an alternative meaning ‘testicles’, so we are not sure of what the original intention of the teams title was!). Upon getting new sponsorship the team changed its name to ScotiaBank Storm, around 1998/9.
The past few years have seen fruitful times for Storm, regularly retaining their position in the top few of the division one league. A dedicated bunch of regulars saw the team continue without the aid of any corporate sponsorship for a period of around 4 years. In 2006 Storm out-did themselves and brought home the silverware in both the Jersey 1st division competition and the Channel Islands championship final against the winner of the Guernsey div 1. The local and newly formed financial services recruiting company Optimus decided they'd like to have a piece of the Storm team, so offered to put their name to the team in return for their sponsorship. Optimus Storm did their sponsors proud in 2007 by retaining the Jersey 1st division trophy, but unfortunately tripped over this time in Guernsey. All the guys and gals look forward to 2008!
