Reigning Champions Suffer First Defeat - posted 18 May 2008
Reigning champions Optimus Storm suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Pure Solutions Niners. In blustery conditions, the Niners settled quicker and through a combination of consistent base hitting and fewer fielding errors lead 7-1 by the end of the 4th innings. Two home runs each for Mark Smith and Kirk Truscott lead the way, and despite a well placed home run from Storm's captain Gary Osborne in the final inning, this proved to be too little too late.
